Why mobile needs a separate guide

Verity Companion runs on PC, console, and mobile, but the touch layout and battery profile are different enough that PC-only advice does not transfer cleanly. This page collects every mobile-specific tip we have tested on iOS and Android — touch layout, performance tweaks, battery and data saving, mobile-only code redemption, Roblox app settings, and the most common crashes.

Touch layout basics

The default mobile layout places the dialogue options along the bottom of the screen and the jumpscare interaction button in the top-right corner. Most mobile players hold the phone in landscape mode, but the layout adapts to portrait if you rotate the device.

Tips for the touch layout:

1. Use two hands. Your left thumb controls movement; your right thumb controls interactions.
2. Tap (do not swipe) the dialogue options. Swipes register as accidental skips and lower the trust variable.
3. Pinch-to-zoom is disabled in Room 4 to prevent jumpscare misfires — do not panic if zoom stops responding.
4. The companion portrait in the top-left is tappable. Tap it to swap personalities mid-run at the lobby desk.

If the touch layout feels cramped, switch to a tablet or enable the accessibility large-text option in the Roblox app settings.

Performance tweaks

Verity Companion is light on the Roblox engine, but mid-tier Android phones can still drop frames in Room 4. The tweaks below restore smooth performance without sacrificing visual quality.

• Lower the Roblox graphics quality to Manual, then set Quality Level to 3. This keeps the lighting engine active but disables post-processing, which is the heaviest cost on mobile GPUs.
• Disable the Roblox frame-rate cap. Open the Roblox app settings, toggle on “Unlimited FPS”, then re-launch Verity Companion. The cap defaults to 30 FPS on many Android devices.
• Close background apps. Discord, Spotify, and any browser tabs force the GPU to share resources. Closing them before a run can recover 5–10 FPS.
• Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data only as a last resort. Mobile data often has lower jitter than crowded Wi-Fi networks, which matters for the jumpscare timer.

The how to survive jumpscares guide assumes a steady 30 FPS. If your phone cannot hold 30 FPS, drop the Quality Level to 2 and accept the visual trade-off.

Battery and data saving

Mobile players often run out of battery or hit their data cap mid-run. The tips below minimise both without breaking immersion.

Battery saving:

• Drop the screen brightness to 60%. Verity Companion is a dark horror game, so the lower brightness actually improves the atmosphere.
• Enable low-power mode before starting the run. Roblox respects the OS-level low-power flag and lowers the GPU clock.
• Unplug the phone. Charging while gaming raises the battery temperature and triggers thermal throttling on most Android devices.
• Avoid the in-game chat. Typing wakes the keyboard and forces the OS to keep the screen at full brightness.

Data saving:

• Verity Companion uses roughly 25 MB per hour of play on default settings. Lower the Quality Level to 2 to drop it to roughly 18 MB per hour.
• Disable the in-game voice chat if you do not need it. Voice chat burns data even when nobody is talking.
• Pre-download the code redemption assets over Wi-Fi so the Codes hub redemption steps do not eat mobile data.

Mobile-only code redemption

The Codes hub works on mobile, but the redemption UI is slightly different. Use the steps below instead of the PC flow.

1. Tap the Twitter bird icon in the lobby. The redemption menu opens.
2. Tap the text field at the bottom of the menu. The mobile keyboard appears.
3. Type the code exactly as listed on the Codes hub. Codes are case-sensitive on mobile.
4. Tap the green Redeem button. The reward credits instantly.

Common mobile redemption issues:

• Keyboard auto-correct rewrites codes. Disable auto-correct in the Roblox app settings before redeeming.
• Pasted codes include trailing spaces. Long-press the text field, tap Select All, then re-type the code manually.
• Codes expired mid-run. The Codes hub flags expired codes within 24 hours; the in-game menu does not.

Roblox app settings that matter

The Roblox app has a handful of settings that affect Verity Companion performance and stability on mobile. Toggle these before your first run.

• Graphics Quality — Manual, Quality Level 3. Required for stable Room 4 frame-rates.
• Frame Rate — Unlimited. Default caps vary by phone model.
• Voice Chat — Enabled only if you want it. Voice chat is a battery and data drain.
• Camera Access — Disabled. Verity Companion does not need the camera.
• Notifications — Disabled for Roblox. Push notifications wake the screen mid-run and break immersion.
• Account PIN — Enabled. Prevents accidental Robux purchases by children sharing the device.

Common crashes and fixes

Mobile crashes cluster around three patterns. Each has a known fix.

Crash 1 — black screen after the lobby:

• Force-close the Roblox app, then re-launch Verity Companion. The lobby asset bundle sometimes fails to load on cold boot.

Crash 2 — dialogue options freeze:

• Tap the screen five times in quick succession. This forces a UI refresh without exiting the run.
• If the freeze persists, exit to the lobby and reload the run. The trust variable resets.

Crash 3 — Room 4 jumpscare triggers an OS-level crash:

• Disable the in-game voice chat. The voice chat codec crashes some Android devices during the Room 4 jumpscare.
• Lower the Quality Level to 2. The post-processing pipeline is the most common crash trigger.
